A former Topeka lawyer pleaded guilty to stealing more than $460,000 from several clients' trust funds.
Federal prosecutors announced Wednesday that 52-year-old Robert M. Telthorst pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud and one count of money laundering.
Telthorst admitted that from November 2005 to August 2011 he took clients' money for his personal use and to cover up thefts from other clients' trust accounts.
His victims include a charitable trust of $80,000 set up for the University of Kansas School of Business. After Telthorst's thefts, the balance was $1,750.
He will be sentenced Feb. 19. Both parties have agreed to recommend a five-year sentence and restitution of $460,542.
