Topeka Girl Killed In Dog Attack

UPDATE: 9:55 p.m.:
The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office tells our sister station WIBW that the girl critically injured in the dog attack has died. Authorities say the girl was with her mother visiting someone at the home at the time of the attack.
CPR was performed by people on scene and emergency personnel took over. She was transported to a Topeka hospital where she died a short time later.
The girl's name has not been released. The dog is in the custody of the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department.

A young girl in Topeka is hospitalized in critical condition after she was attacked by a dog Thursday afternoon. It happened at a home near Forbes Field.
Our sister station WIBW reports that a girl under the age of 5 was was attacked by a mixed breed pittbull. The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office, which removed the dog from the home, said the animal came from a shelter.
The attack is still under investigation and no other information has been released.
