TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A deadline is looming for critics of Sen. Pat Roberts who want to challenge his right to run for re-election amid allegations that Roberts is not truly a Kansas resident.

Objections to Roberts' inclusion on the Aug. 5 Republican primary ballot must be filed with the Kansas secretary of state's office by 5 p.m. Wednesday.

A three-member state board led by the secretary of state would review any objection.

GOP challenger and tea party candidate Milton Wolf contends Roberts isn't a Kansas resident because the three-term incumbent lives in Alexandria, Virginia.

Roberts owns a home in the Washington suburb. He and his wife also own a Dodge City duplex unit but rent it to tenants.

The senator says Wolf's allegation is without merit.
