Three members of a family were killed and three other family members were hurt in a one-vehicle crash in McPherson County Saturday morning.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 48-year-old Luis Medina of Schuyler, Neb., was driving a 2004 Chevrolet SUV southbound on I-135 about four miles north of McPherson about 11:10 a.m. when the vehicle entered the median and then weaved down the Interstate before rolling several times. Five of the seven people in the SUV were thrown out, the Highway Patrol says.

The accident report says Medina told troopers he may have fallen asleep before the crash.

The three family members killed were 10-year-old Daisy Medina Quezada, 36-year-old Adrian Quezada and 45-year-old Martha Medina, all of Schuyler. Three other victims were taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. They are 1-year-old Daniel Medina, who was listed in fair condition, and 4-year-old Natalie Medina and 26-year-old Augustina Medina, who were both listed in critical condition. Luis Medina was taken to McPherson Hospital. He was no longer listed as a patient late Saturday night.
