Cowley County Sheriff's deputies arrested three men this morning who are suspected of picking up copper wiring they had stolen from a nearby worksite yesterday.
The theft was reported at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday just south of Geuda Springs. Taken were several 1,000-foot spools of various types of copper wiring.
Two spools of wiring were found near an oil well about one-half mile east of where the theft occurred and deputies placed the area under surveillance. About 2:50 a.m. Thursday, a vehicle entered the property and left about 10 minutes later.
A deputy stopped the car nearby and the three suspects were arrested and booked into the Cowley county Jail, where they face charges of burglary, felony theft, criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing. One of the suspects was released, but the other two remain in jail.
