Three people were seriously hurt Friday afternoon in a rollover accident southeast of Hutchinson. It happened just after 3:15 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Airport Road.
Officials say something caused the driver of a sport utility vehicle to veer into a tractor trailer. The SUV clipped the back end of the truck and rolled multiple times.
One of the passengers of the SUV was taken by helicopter to a Wichita hospital in critical condition. The driver and another passenger were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt.
Traffic at the intersection was closed for about an hour while crews investigated the scene and cleared away debris. The intersection has been reopened.
The accident is under investigation. The victims' names have not been released.
