Police are investigating the deadly shooting of three people whose bodies were found in an east Wichita home Saturday.

Officers were called to check a house in the 300 block of North Ash about 12:15 p.m. They found two men and one woman dead inside the home, which is just east of Second Street and Interstate 135.

"The victims appear to have suffered from gunshot wounds," Capt. Hassan Ramzah of the Wichita Police Department said. "We are still in the early stages of the investigation."

Police spent Saturday afternoon going door-to-door in the east Wichita neighborhood, trying to determine what led up to the deaths of the three victims.

"I do not have any information in terms of suspects that we're looking for at this point in time," Ramzah said Saturday afternoon. "That's why we're still in the process of trying to do some follow-up."

He said the home was set up as a multi-unit dwelling, but he did not know how many people had been living there.

"We're interviewing different occupants of the residence," Ramzah said. "It appears to be some type of disturbance may have occurred inside of the residence sometime earlier in the day."

Shawnna Barr said she has lived in the neighborhood most of her life. She said four people lived in the house where the bodies were found. She's known three of the residents -- a couple and their grandson -- her entire life.

"They're really quiet people; you never hear anything from them," Barr said. "They don't call the cops on anybody. They don't do anything in this neighborhood. They just stay in the house."

Police were questioning people who knew the victims. They were also trying to determine whether all three deaths were homicides or whether they were a murder-suicide.

"Right now, we're looking into everything, trying to make that determination," Ramzah said.

Officers found a pistol in the house, but it was unclear Saturday evening whether that was the weapon used in the shootings.
