Wichita KS-- Dustin Belcher runs Beeline Auto Salvage in south Wichita. Over the years he's seen it all when it comes to thieves.
"Jumping the fence, over the fence, under the fence," he said.
But what he hasn't seen yet, is the theft of computer modules.
"It is really surprising, precious metals, aluminum, copper," he said, "but computer modules on a semi truck would not be on the list. "
But that's exactly what criminals took from Co-parts Salvage Auction down the street last week. They crawled under the fence and stole at least 10 of the computers from semis.
Belcher doesn't know what thieves would want with the modules, unless they wanted the software or the copper.
Co-parts declined comment on the crime, but even police are baffled by the theft.
"We haven't seen a lot of them taken, so this is somewhat new," said Wichita Police Lt. Doug Nolte.
Belcher has installed new security measures at his salvage yard hoping to scare off thieves.
