NEWTON, Kan.--- Some patients are experiencing improvements from a new therapy called neurologic chiropractic which reconnects some of the brain's damaged wires.

"We're doing an innovative therapy that uses some roots in functional neurology," said Dr. Sean Hubbard, D.C., of Hubbard Chiropractic and Balance Center in Newton. "Nothing is totally original in what we do. We combine many things to help people with different balance disorders and specifically concussions."

About 75-percent of his patients have experienced improvements in their symptoms, including 15-year-old Victoria Jansen.

Jansen suffered three concussions while playing sports. The constant headache and balance issues she experienced did not improve with traditional methods.

Her mother said that both CT scan and MRI results showed her daughter did not have problems but she wanted a solution to her daughter's pain.

"Every concussion is different for every person, every time. There's no set answers. As a mom, that wasn't okay. That wasn't okay with me. You know, it's not okay for her to have a headache every single day," said Rachel Jansen.

The Jansens were recommended to Dr. Hubbard in October 2013. After months of therapy, it has proven successful for the teen.

"This third one I've had a constant headache for two and a half years, plus the dizziness, which he fixed, and the balance, which he fixed," said Jansen.

Dr. Hubbard said this alternative therapy is not for everyone but he has seen improvements in many of his patients.
