Police: Shooting The Result Of Drug Deal Gone Bad

Wichita Police said a shooting that left a teenager wounded was the result of a drug deal gone bad.

Crews were called to the scene in the 600 block of S. Kansas Ave. around 11:15 a.m. Thursday. Officials arrived to find a 19-year-old man inside the home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators said Aris Brown's father was involved in a drug deal that went bad. Investigators said there was an exchange of gunfire between Aris Brown and another man.

Brown was shot several times. The man who shot him was also wounded. The gunman left the scene in a white pickup truck. The truck has been recovered, but officers are still searching for the 32-year-old gunman. Investigators believe he was wounded in the shootout.

Aris Brown's father, Delmar Brown, 37, was arrested for possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of drugs.

Police are searching for a suspect after a teenager was shot in his south Wichita home.

Crews were called to the scene in the 600 block of S. Kansas Ave. around 11:15 a.m. Thursday. Officials arrived to find a 19-year-old man inside the home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition with two gunshot wounds to his stomach and at least two in the leg. An update on his condition is not available.

Police said the suspect drove away from the scene in a newer model white Dodge pickup truck with a black bed. He is described as a 29-year-old black man, about 6’ to 6’1” tall, weight 215 lbs. He is dark complected, bald, with a teardrop tattoo under his eye, last seen wearing blue jean shorts and a t-shirt.

Authorities said a confrontation led to the shooting. Several people witnessed the disturbance.

A neighbor, who did not want to be identified, told KAKE News she woke up to the sound of gun fire.

“I was inside and saw my neighbor on the phone saying, ‘my son’s been shot, my son’s been shot,’” she said. The neighbor said she tried to stop the bleeding by applying pressure to his wounds.

“I talked to him and told him to calm down,” she said.

Officers did not recover a weapon at the scene. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police.

One person has been rushed to the hospital after a shooting in south Wichita.

It happened in the 600 block of S. Kansas Ave. around 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

Scanner traffic indicated 19-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. The victim was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, two to the stomach and at least two in the leg.

The suspect drove away from the scene in a late 1990s white pickup truck. He is described as a 29-year-old black man, about 6’ to 6’1” tall, weight 215 lbs. He is dark complected, bald, with a teardrop tattoo under one eye, and last seen wearing blue jean shorts and a t-shirt.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police.
