A teenager is recovering from injuries after accidentally shooting himself in the knee.
It happened in the 600 block of S. Drury Sunday afternoon.
Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police, said a 16-year-old boy was showing off a .38 revolver to an 18-year-old friend. The gun fired as the boy was hiding the weapon under a mattress. A bullet hit the teenager in the knee.
The boy was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
Nolte said it is unclear whether the boys' guardians knew he had a gun.
