Teen Drowns In Burlington

Nineteen year-old Benjamin Burke of Burlington drowned last night in the Neosho River just above the Burlington City Dam.

Officers responded to the drowning call around 8:30 Thursday night. They made several attempts to rescue Burke but were not successful.

Burke was located and recovered around 10:40 p.m. Thursday night.

The Coffey County Sheriff's Office, Burlington Police Department, Coffey County Emergency Medical Services, Coffey County Fire District #1 and Coffey County Water Rescue were all involved in the emergency response Thursday night.
