Teen Hurt In SE Wichita Joyriding Accident With 12-Year-Old Driver

A 15-year-old suffered critical injuries early Sunday morning in a joyriding accident in southeast Wichita.

Wichita Police Sgt. Scott Brunow two children, ages 12 and 9, and two 15-year-olds took their mother's rental car around 7 a.m. and went joyriding.

When the 12-year-old driving the car stopped in the 1100 block of South Quentin Street, one of the two teens got out. As the car started to drive off again, the teen jumped on the back of it, slid off and fell on his head.

The 12-year-old then drove to Via Christi on Harry, where the teen was determined to have critical injuries and transferred to St. Francis.

The case has been turned over to the juvenile district attorney.

No further information was released.
