Police in Yates Center in Woodson County arrest a teen suspect wanted for a brutal stabbing and hammer beating of a high school classmate in Lincoln, Nebraska.
According to police 16-year old Sarah Piccolo is accused of attacking a 17 year old girl in a bathroom at Saint Pius the Tenth High School in Lincoln. Piccolo was found Tuesday morning at the Star Motel in Yates Center.
The Star Motel manager who only gives her first name Jackie says Sarah Piccolo arrived at the motel about 9:30 Monday evening.
Jackie says, "She was such a sweet little girl."
The motel manager says she could tell the 16 year old had a lot on her mind. "And when she told me she was 16, I said, 'Girl what is wrong? Did you run away from home? She said yes and started crying and I held her."
Jackie says she offered to call her parents but instead says Sarah asked her to call police instead.
Jackie says, "And that's when she said she'd been bullied and said she did some things she wished she'd never done. And all she could do was cry."
Jackie says she asked the girl if she had a weapon. "And she said, 'Yes.' I've got a knife in my purse and I said you need to give that to them.' " Jackie described it as a hunting knife.
The motel manager says she watched as police also found a long butcher knife and a screwdriver in the car the girl was driving.
According to Lincoln police the girl she's accused of assaulting is 17 year old Ellen Kopetzky. Police say she hit the 17 year old on the head with a hammer twice. Police say Kopetzky also had cuts to her face near her mouth and chin.
Kopetzky was treated at a Lincoln hospital and has since been released.
