SALINA, Kan. — A Salina couple accused in the death of a baby have waived their right to a preliminary hearing.

Last December, emergency responders were called to a home in the 1200 block of Augusta Street in Salina for an unresponsive child. A three-month-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers later arrested the child's parents, 27-year-old Nicholas Corbin and 20-year-old Desirah Overturf. They were both charged with first degree murder and child abuse.

Tuesday morning, Corbin and Overturf were due in court, but both waived their right to a preliminary hearing. Overturf's arraignment has been set for June 17, and Corbin's will be June 23. A trial will then be scheduled.
