Two men charged in separate homicides over the weekend made their first appearances in court Wednesday.
Hakeem Jackson is charged with first degree murder for the shooting death of 23 year-old George Vasquez. Vasquez was found shot inside of a home near 8th and Wabash Friday night.
Police would not speculate as to a motive for the shooting, but do say Vasquez and Jackson had once worked together.
29 year-old Dat Nguyen is charged with second degree murder in the stabbing death of 27 year-old Tan Nguyen. Police say the suspect stabbed Nguyen as part of an on-going feud with the victim's brother.
Tan Nguyen was driven to Via Christi Hospital on Harry by private vehicle before being transferred by ambulance to St. Francis. He later died during surgery.
