WICHITA, Kan. — Police say a suspect was shot in the leg with his own gun Tuesday evening during a drug deal gone bad in southeast Wichita.

It happened around 9 p.m. in the 1000 block of south Pinecrest. Lt. Dan East said the 18-year-old victim and 19-year-old suspect had met to make a drug deal.

The suspect pointed a handgun at the other man, East said. During a scuffle over over the gun, it fired, hitting the suspect in the right leg. He was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
