WICHITA, Kan. -- Police have rearrested a man in connection to a deadly hit and run involving a man and child on horseback.

This morning, Wichita Police announced that they took 26-year-old George Donald Childers back into custody. Officers believe Childers was driving the car that killed 49-year-old Lloyd "Sonny" Ferguson and seriously injured 6-year-old Eddie Caddell at 21st and Piatt on July 5. Two others stopped to help, then all four were hit by a second car.

Following up on a Crime Stoppers tip in August, officers found the car they believe was involved in the crash, hidden in a garage in the 2900 block of North Coolidge.

Police soon after arrested Childers on unrelated charges. He and two others were then released as investigators continued to build their case.

Yesterday, Childers was rearrested on two counts of failure to stop at an accident where there was great bodily harm. Officers also arrested a 31-year-old woman for felony obstruction.

Police are now looking for a 19-year-old woman and a 28-year-old woman in connection to the case.
