Augusta Police are investigating after a local high school student was found with a gun on campus Wednesday.
An e-mail sent from USD 402 said the student brought a handgun to campus with the intent to sell it.
Augusta Public Safety said the student was on an athletic field, and the school resource officer was able to intercept the student and retrieve the gun.
The e-mail states the gun was never in the building and there was never a threat to staff or students.
The investigation has been handed over to Augusta Police.
