Some residents in Reno County may not be able to reach 911 dispatchers after a thunderstorm downed power lines.

Emergency management officials said a Wednesday night's storm affected telephone equipment that provides access to the 911 system. The outage affects about one-third of residents in eastern Reno County.

CenturyLink telephone service is working to correct the problem.

Officials say cell phone service is still available in the area. Residents needing emergency services may still dial 911 for assistance.
