Storms Cause Damage In Eastern, Central Kansas

The storm system that rolled through eastern and central Kansas Saturday brought tornadoes, high winds and damage.

The storms developed over western Kansas during the afternoon and slowly worked their way east to central Kansas. Tornadoes touched down several times in Pawnee County near Rozel. One home was damaged, but the resident took cover in his basement and was not hurt.

KAKE First Alert Storm Tracker Bryce Kintigh captured the following tornado video near Rozel Saturday evening.

Strong winds caused damage to trees and structures and downed power lines in Ottawa County near Minneapolis. A machine shed near Clay Center in Clay County was also damaged.

The storm also caused tree damage in Nickerson in Reno County..

According to the National Weather Service, damage was also reported from Geary, Riley, Cloud, and Marshall counties.

In Geary County, 60-70 mph winds flipped a camper over near Milford Lake. Two people were treated for minor injuries. Also power lines were downed which cause outages near Ft. Riley.

In Riley County, buildings have been reportedly damaged in the industrial park.

In Marshall County, three trailers were flipped over, and a large barn and out buildings were destroyed near Blue Rapids.

The National Weather Service says they are still investigating other damage reports across the region.
