The third of four inmates who escaped from state custody in April, 2012 was sentenced today to more than 11 additional years in prison for aggravated escape from custody. The inmates were housed by the state at the Ottawa County jail at the time of their escape.

Alberto Barraza-Lujan, 24, was sentenced to 136 months by Judge Patrick Thompson in Ottawa County District Court. Barraza-Lujan pleaded guilty to the escape charge in January. Thompson ordered the sentence to be served consecutive to the 136 months Barraza-Lujan is still serving for previous convictions.

Two defendants were previously sentenced on related charges in connection with the escapes. Eric James was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for carjacking charges related to the escape. Drew Wade was sentenced last week to 136 additional months after pleading guilty to aggravated escape from custody.

A fourth defendant, Santos M. Carrera-Morales, is charged with aggravated escape from custody and battery on a corrections officer. He is awaiting trial.
