HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Police say a standoff with an armed man has ended and the man is in custody.

Police said the man came out of a garage after 5:00 p.m. Officers shot the man with "bean bag" rounds to subdue him.

It began around 9:45 a.m. Friday when officers were dispatched to the report of a noise complaint on West 14th near Washington. When police arrived, they heard a loud bang they believed to be a gunshot.

One of the officers then spotted a man with a rifle, who fired four more shots into the air - not at the officer. He then went into the garage of a nearby home and refuses to come out.

Police fired tear gas into the detached garage in an effort to force the man out.

Reno County authorities identified the man as Thomas Fee.
