UPDATE: Tuesday, October 15, 2013
Officers searched several locations in and around Eureka Monday, but there's still no sign of triple shooting suspect Kevin Welsh.
The Greenwood County Sheriff told us last night that they were called out to the neighborhood near 8th and Oak because they received information Kevin Welsh could be hiding in one of the buildings.
Neighbors said they witnessed SWAT teams surround a laundry mat owned by Welsh. They also said they were evacuated by SWAT teams earlier in the day. Several heard police calling for Kevin Welsh by name and asking him to surrender.
Just before 10 Monday night, SWAT cleared out and the roads re-opened.
Tuesday morning, the attorney general's office released the following statement:
"Last night law enforcement searched several locations in Eureka, Kansas, seeking suspect Kevin Robert Welsh. Welsh was not located. Welsh is believed to be in Eureka or close proximity. He is considered armed. Governor Brownback has authorized a $5,000 reward for information leading to the apprehension of Kevin Robert Welsh. Any person with information is asked to call 911 or (800) KS-CRIME."
The total reward for information leading to Welsh's arrest is $11,000.
Welsh is being sought in connection to the shooting deaths of 52-year-old Sheila Kriesel, 54-year-old Keith Kriesel and the shooting of 26-year-old Catherine Scheff in Eureka, on October 2.
