The rain that fell in Wichita flooded streets and caused problems for drivers and residents.

Meridian was covered with water in southwest Wichita, especially from Harry to Pawnee. Several cars that stalled out in the flood water were left stranded in the middle of the street.

"We finally got stuck and than that's when things got bad," Audrey Zogelmann said.

"I opened the door, not knowing how deep it was, to get out and push it to a parking lot and the water just flooded in and got to our knees so I climbed out the window and it was waist deep on me," Amand Zogelman said.

The city put up barricades along Meridian but drivers continued to drive past them, through the flooded waters.

Police say crossing barricades and driving on closed roads is against state and city law. You can be cited.

By Sunday night, most of the flood waters had drained away but there are still several stranded cars in the middle of the road. The barricades are still up on Meridian from Orient to Harry and that part of the road is still closed.
