WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita residents don't need to get out the snow shovel yet. But there could be slick spots on the streets Thursday, because of winter precipitation which fell during the midnight hour.
A spurt of sleet and snow developed around the city. People leaving comments on the KAKE-TV Facebook page reported a lot of sleet on the south side. El Dorado had a mix of sleet and snow as well, while Salina had snow flurries.
A water main broke around 4:00 a.m. near South 47th and Hydraulic. It's not clear if the sub-freezing temperatures caused the break, but crews were out before dawn in the cold making repairs.
Only heard of one serious traffic wreck was reported in Wichita overnight. A driver was injured at K-96 and Kellogg around midnight. It's not clear if slick streets were a factor.
