Slick Highways Make For Hazardous Travel

Wichita, KAN. -- The major highways in the Wichita area are still being plowed. Troopers say if you must drive use the outside or far right hand lane and keep your speed down.

KDOT has been plowing round the clock but there are still slick spots and it gets worse as you head out of the city.

The elevated roads such as I-235 and I-135 and Kellogg can be very slick in sports. The good news is with many schools canceling there was less traffic on the roads which reduced the number of accidents and slide-offs.

Kansas State Trooper Gary Warner says most of the problems they did have involved visibility and speed. "Slow down, increase your following distance, make sure you clear all the ice and snow off your vehicle before you leave."
