ONAGA, Kan. -- Police in a northeast Kansas community are asking for the public's help in locating a missing man who suffers from dementia.

A Silver Alert has been issued for 67-year-old Melvin Robert Potter of Onaga. That's in Pottawatomie County.

Potter was last seen at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 14 when he left for a short errand. He was wearing a red flannel shirt with brown patches on the sleeves, blue jeans, brown boots and a brown leather belt with a belt buckle that says 'Oklahoma.' He also has a noticeable limp due to a previous injury.

He was driving a red and silver two-tone 1996 Dodge pickup truck with Kansas license plate 385 DPQ.

Police say Potter suffers from dementia and has a history of going missing. In the past, he has traveled several states and not known how he arrived or what he was doing there.

He also suffers from high blood pressure and does not have his medication.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office at (785) 457-3353.
