WICHITA, Kan. - The sun came out in parts of KAKEland Sunday afternoon, to help thaw snow and ice on roads. But the overnight cold may have made them frozen again, especially on side streets.
Some sections of freeways in Wichita were shown by WichWay.org as a speed-limit drive early Monday. But one part of Kellogg near Mid-Continent Airport was down to a recommended 24 miles per hour.
A drive around Wichita during the day Sunday found a lot of city streets and side streets that were still snow packed. Most major highways and roads had at least one lane clear by the afternoon.
Some drivers told us they're impressed with how clear K-DOT and city crews kept the roads. "On the way to church this morning.... it was great," Lynn McDonald said. "They cleared it by church time."
"Just based on what I saw this morning I think the Wichita crews are doing a great job," Marilyn Craig added.
As of Monday morning, the Emergency Accident Reporting Policy in Wichita was not in effect.
