Showers and storms return to KAKEland and a few could be severe

WICHITA, Kan. --
Afternoon showers and storms will once again fire up across the western half of the state. While showers and storms are likely only a few will meet severe criteria. Ingredients are right for few storms that could produce high wind and large hail Good news, is that the tornado threat in KAKEland is very low.

In addition to hail and wind, these storms will produce deadly lightning. Remember, that if you can hear thunder you are close enough to be struck by lighting. Another threat this afternoon and evening will be localized heavy rain leading to flash flooding.

While an isolated thunderstorm can't be ruled out this afternoon near Wichita, These storms will likely not meet severe limits. Shower and storm chances for South Central Kansas will increase as we head into the overnight hours.
