A man is dead following a late-night shooting in northeast Wichita.
Wichita Police Lt. Todd Ojile said three men had just left a home and were walking near the intersection of 15th and Green when an SUV pulled up, just before midnight.
"One of the occupants of the vehicle yelled for (the victim) to come over to the vehicle. The victim walked to the vehicle and upon arriving at the vehicle, was shot," said Ojile.
The victim was hit several times on the upper body, and later died at a Wichita hospital.
Police have not released the name of the 25-year-old victim. However, they said that the victim and the two other men are documented gang members.
Friends of the victim said the man killed was Lemmie Alford.
"He was trying to change his life. He said he was going back to school. He was about to get a job and he was about to get his stuff together," said Merci Daniels.
