Wichita State's men's basketball team will return to Intrust Bank Arena to host a Conference USA team for the third consecutive year. The Shockers will face The University of Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles on Saturday, Dec. 22. This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
“We are thrilled to host the University of Southern Mississippi, defending Conference USA champions, and to again play at INTRUST Bank Arena," said Gregg Marshall, Wichita State head coach.
The Shockers defeated both The University of Tulsa in 2010 and The University of Alabama-Birmingham last season while meeting on the court at Intrust Bank.
Southern Miss is coached by first year head coach Donnie Tyndall. The Golden Eagles were 25-9 last season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. They return two starters and five lettermen from last year’s team.
"I have a great deal of respect for Coach Marshall and the Wichita State program,” Tyndall said. “We know that it is always a very challenging environment to play in, but we look forward to the opportunity to compete against a great team."
The game will not be a part of the Wichita State season ticket holder package. However, Wichita State men’s basketball season ticket holders will have first purchase priority through a pre-sale. A purchase code will be sent at a later date to season ticket holders based on donation and priority point levels. Ticket prices start at $17 and go on sale to the general public in October.
