WICHITA, Kan.--- For more than 20 years, Catholic Charities Harbor House has provided shelter and support for victims of domestic violence. The shelter, which is at an undisclosed location for the safety of victims, also operates a 24-hour hotline to help victims.

"Statistically, a woman leaves seven times before she leaves for good, so we understand all of that," said Joyce Mahoney, Harbor House program director. "Don't be embarrassed, just call us."

The YWCA Women's Crisis Center also operates a shelter in Wichita for victims of domestic violence.

Both not-for-profit shelters help women, men, and children who have been affected by domestic violence.

"Domestic violence has an impact on every member of the family, even if the kids aren't always the direct victim," said Kate Kinman, Harbor House child and family counselor.
