Severe weather threat returns to KAKEland

Stay up-to-date with KAKE News:

WICHITA, Kan. -- Hot and mostly sunny through the majority of the day across KAKEland. Clouds will be increasing toward evening. During the evening and overnight hours showers and storms are expected to develop and move into Western Kansas. A few storms could be severe with the primary threats being large hail and high wind. The tornado threat is low tonight. If tornadoes do occur they will be brief in nature.

These storms will track East Southeast through the overnight hours into South Central Kansas. Strong and potentially severe storms will be possible in the Wichita metro area very early Thursday morning. Wind will be the primary threat as we approach sunrise.

Heavy rainfall could result in localized flooding. The flooding threat will continue into the weekend as the active weather pattern brings more wet weather to KAKEland.
