An early morning drive-by shooting has an east Wichita neighborhood rattled.
Police are still searching for the shooter and at least one other person who was driving the car.
The people who live in the 700 block of south Lightner tell us usually, they're happy to call the neighborhood, home.
"It is a nice neighborhood, it's nice and quiet,” Victor Knight said.
"There's a lot of kids around here and elderly couples and stuff like that,” Crystal Olson said.
But at about 4:30 in the morning, the quiet neighborhood got a rude and loud awakening.
"I heard five gunshots, they sounded like fireworks only quicker and closer together,” Olson said.
"Well police rang my doorbell and that got me out of bed. He said I hate to disturb you but we've just had a drive-by shooting,” Knight said.
Police tell us a witness saw a white Pontiac Grand Am drive up to a house. He saw the back window roll down and saw a man in his 20's lean out with a gun in his hand. The witness ran inside but then heard several gunshots.
When they arrived on the scene, police found five shell casings in the street and found seven spots on the house that had been hit by bullets.
The drive-by shooting so close to their homes, has neighbors rattled.
"What if they had been driving and shooting and hitting other houses,” Olson said.
"Seems like the world is going crazy but there's nothing you can do about it,” Knight said.
Nobody was hurt.
