Detention Staff at the Sedgwick County Jail found that a 35-year-old man had attempted suicide by hanging in a single-person cell.

It happened just before 10:30 a.m. Jail staff administered first aid until the arrival of facility medical staff.

He was then transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at around 11:15 a.m.

The inmate had been booked into the jail earlier this month on a probation violation for driving under the influence.

The man's identity has not been released.
