SALINA, Kan. (AP) — One man is recovering and another is in custody following a shooting in Salina.
At about 12:30 p.m. Monday, officers were called to the report of a shooting in the 800 block of N. 2nd Street. When they arrived, they found a 20-year-old man suffering from two gunshot wounds to the abdomen.
The victim was first taken to a Salina hospital, then transferred to Wichita. Police say he has non-life threatening injuries.
Police blocked off part of the neighborhood looking for the suspect, and found him hiding in the porch of a nearby home on 4th Street.
Officers arrested 34-year-old Raymond Isom. Police say the victim and Isom are acquaintances, and had a confrontation just before the shooting. A KHP K-9 found the gun believed to be used in the shooting under another porch about a block from where Isom was hiding.
Isom was booked for attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery, criminal discharge of a firearm in a residence, possession of stolen property (the gun was reported stolen in a separate residential burglary), aggravated burglary and criminal trespassing.
