SALINA, Kan. — Police are searching for a suspect after a Kansas man was shot in the groin late last night.

Around 10:30 Sunday night, officers were called to the report of a shooting at the Chapel Ridge Apartments. Police told KSAL News that it started as a disturbance between a man and woman inside one of the apartments. That's when another man reportedly kicked in the door and shot the other man once with a handgun, then fled.

He was taken to an area hospital with what police call a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the groin. He's been identified as 41-year-old Darrell Carter of Salina.

No one has been arrested, but police said the victim and suspect were not acquaintances.
