Crews in Salina are currently looking for the source of a chemical smell in the northern part of the city.

According to Salina Police dispatch, some homes have been evacuated as a precaution, which they say is protocol for incidents of this nature.

The area evacuated includes the 1200 block of North 7th and 8th Streets and Santa Fe between Antrim and Otis Streets. Those streets have been blocked off while emergency crews continue to investigate.

KAKE News will continue to monitor the situation, and will update as new information becomes available.
