A Salina man has been convicted of murder for the death of his girlfriend's child.
Friday afternoon, a jury in Riley County found 29-year-old Antonio M. Brown, Sr. guilty of all counts in connection to the October 2011 death of Clayden Lee Urbanek.
Brown had previously pleaded No Contest to the death. While awaiting sentencing in February, he escaped from the Saline County Jail but was captured two days later.
After his arrest, a judge allowed Brown to withdraw his plea, ruling that his attorney gave him inaccurate advice on the prison sentence he would receive by pleading no contest. His trial was moved to Riley County and began this week.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 25. The toddler's mother, Brittney N. Betzold, is serving almost 13 years in prison for her role in the child's death.
