Hutchinson, Kan. -- The Reno County Sheriff's Office is warning about a new "Warrant Scam" circulating in the county.

Sheriff Randy Henderson says his office has taken several calls from residents saying they have been contacted by a man claiming to be Captain Kevin Williams with the Reno County Sheriff's Office. The man claims that the person has a warrant for their arrest and that if they don't come up with an amount of money, which they are to bring to him, that they will be arrested.

Sheriff Henderson says this is a scam and that deputies will never contact you to ask you to pay them directly to clear an outstanding warrant or ticket. All payments go directly to the court and not his office.

Henderson says anyone concerned that they may have a warrant is advised to call the Warrant Division, at 620-694-2735.
