Registered Offender Sentenced To Life In Prison For Sex Crimes

January 10, 2013

A registered sex offender today was sentenced to 17 consecutive life sentences for sex crimes against two girls. James Brown was sentenced in Sedgwick County District Court.

Prosecutors said a Kansas City woman brought her daughters to Wichita so Brown could have sex with them. The crimes happened over a two year period. The girls were 10 and 11-years-old when the rapes started. During a court hearing, the girls testified they were assaulted at least forty times. They said Brown would rape them while their mother watched. Prosecutors also charged the girls' mother with rape and human trafficking.

Brown was first convicted of a sex crime in 2002. The victim was a 12-year-old child.

Brown will not be eligible for parole.
