WICHITA, Kan. — As summer nears and temperatures continue to rise, the Red Cross is preparing to give away more than 1,000 fans.
Later this month, the Red Cross will distribute 1,200 free fans to those vulnerable to high temperatures. The fans were purchased with donations from the public, and the Red Cross says that each year they're able to give out more.
The fans will be given away June 11 through June 13, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the American Red Cross location at 1900 E. Douglas. To receive a fan, participants should have a valid Kansas driver's license and proof of current address.
The Red Cross said the fans are for those especially vulnerable to the heat, such as the elderly and homes with small children. There will be a limit of one fan per household.
