In just the last three weeks police have seen a rash of burglaries in storage facilities. Now they're asking for the public's help to solve the crimes.

For nine years, Kevin Hamm has offered the people of Pratt a small place to store their valuables.

"They've rented a space, that's all it is they've rented space,” Hamm said.

But in the last month, two of his storage facilities have been hit by burglars.

"They damaged some of the doors, some of the locks, tried to pry their way in,” Hamm said.

Pratt police say several storage facilities in the Pratt area have been burglarized. In each case, the locks on the units have been cut or broken off and the thieves had torn through the belongings, looking for valuables.

"A lot of times there's more property scattered in the area then has actually been taken,” Sgt. Kent Wyatt with the Pratt Police Department said.

Police say this many storage unit burglaries in such a short time period is unusual and they're looking into the possibility the crimes might be connected. They have a few leads but they need the public's help too. All they're asking is for everyone to keep their eyes open.

"Any type of suspicious behavior. If a person that drives in looks around and doesn't do anything with that storage unit, we would like to have a license number of that vehicle,” Sgt. Wyatt said.

If you have any information that could help police solve these crimes, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 620-672-3080 or the Pratt Police Department at 620-672-5551.
