WICHITA, Kan. -- The next step in determining the future of one of Wichita's best-known buildings begins tonight.
People are invited to voice their opinions on what should happen with Century II.
"There's opportunity for us to do more business, but with the current facility limitations, that additional business will require some kind of changes in the facility," said John D'Angelo Director of Arts & Cultural Services for the City of Wichita. "(Some vendors) make choices and they may chose not to Century II as often, and we've seen some of that with rotations of conventions that use, for example, Overland Park now."
D'Angelo said three options are being considered:
1. Keep it as is
2. Build a new convention center and renovate Century II
3. Replace building with new convention center
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in meeting room 101 at Century II.
An additional survey on Century II plans will be completed in March. Other public meetings are expected to continue this summer.
