Arkansas City Police took two men into custody after an alert neighbor reported prowlers.
Shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday, a neighbor saw two men she did not know enter a fenced back yard of a home and approach a garage apartment. Police arrived and located the two men in an alley in the 300 block of North A Street.
A short foot chase began. One of the suspects was struck by a pickup truck in the 400 block of North 1st Street. David Anthony Mena, 24, of Arkansas City was treated at the scene by EMS before he was transported to the Cowley County Jail.
A short time later, the second suspect, 32 year-old Ramon Paul Martinez of Arkansas City, returned to the same location and was taken into custody.
Mena was charges with obstruction of official duty. He was also had outstanding charges from a previous domestic violence incident that include two counts of aggravated assault, criminal threat, and criminal damage to property.
Martinez was arrested on charges of obstruction of official duty, and criminal trespass. Chief Sean Wallace says Martinez also had an outstanding Arkansas City Municipal Court warrant.
