A protester has been arrested after jumping on stage and briefly interrupting a speech by Kansas City Mayor Sly James.
KMBC-TV reports that the man, who was not identified, shoved James aside from the podium during the mayor's annual State of the City speech on Tuesday. The man started shouting and cursing into the microphone for several seconds before police threw him to the ground.
Police then removed the man from the theater and put him in a police van.
Police spokesman Darin Snapp says the man is in custody but has not been cooperating with police and has so far refused to give his name. Snapp says the man likely faces at least a charge of resisting arrest.
James' office didn't immediately respond to a call seeking comment.
