WICHITA, Kan. — Congressman Mike Pompeo will take part in a political forum with his opponent, former Congressman Todd Tiahrt early next month.
Last month, Tiahrt announced his intentions to run against incumbent Pompeo in the 4th Congressional District Republican primary election. Tiahrt held the seat from 1995 until 2011, leaving office after an unsuccessful bid for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sam Brownback.
The Wichita Crime Commission is hosting the forum.
“We are very pleased to host this important political forum,” said Crime Commission Executive Director Gordon Bassham. “The GOP primary race for the Fourth Congressional District is an important one to all who live in the district. The members of the Wichita Crime Commission are very pleased Mr. Pompeo and Mr. Tiahrt will be participating.”
The forum is scheduled from 11:30 am. to 1 p.m. on Monday, July 7 at the Scotch and Sirloin restaurant, located at 5325 E. Kellogg Drive. It is only open to Crime Commission members and their guests.
The forum will allow Pompeo and Tiahrt to make opening and closing statements, as well as take questions from Crime Commission members and their guests. The forum will be moderated by Dr. Paul Longhofer.
