Police search for suspect in attempted pawn shop robbery

The Derby Police Department is searching for a man who attempted to rob a Derby pawn shop Friday evening.

DERBY, Kan. -- The Derby Police Department is searching for a man who attempted to rob a Derby pawn shop Friday evening.

Sgt. Joe Smith said the suspect entered Charlie's Gun and Pawn, located at 1606 North Nelson Drive, with a camouflage shotgun at around 5:45 p.m. He reportedly fired shots inside the business before he left empty handed.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as around 6 feet tall, medium build, wearing a camouflage coat and black mask. He was last seen heading north on K-15 in an older model white, four-door compact car with a Kansas veterans tag and no rear passenger side window.
