HAYSVILLE, Kan. -- Police said what was first considered a possible threat at Haysville Middle School may turn out to be a game.
A call made to parents Wednesday evening addressed an incident that took place at Haysville Middle School earlier in the day.
According to the school district, middle school administrators were notified yesterday that a student had compiled a threatening note that listed several students.
A news release from Haysville Police said the student was writing a list as part of a variation of the Assassin game. The game consists of people being on a list. Players on the list will attempt to "assassinate" other players by marking them, in this case with a Sharpie marker, The game is popular at summer camps and on college campuses.
The district says all threats are taken seriously, and that they have protocols in place for handling situations like this.
